3 hr Platter Workshop
Dates will be released soon, in time for the holidays!
Duration: 3 hours
Skill level: All levels welcome — no prior clay experience required.
What you’ll make: 1-3 unique hand-built serving platter (approx. 12–15″) — perfect for cheese nights, dinner parties, or just showing off your pottery swagger. In this session you’ll learn:
How to work with slabs of clay to form a stable platter base
Techniques for shaping edges, adding lips or raised rims, and balancing form + function
Surface-finishing methods: texture stamps, carving, lace patterns (or your own creative spins)
Basics of glazing/finishing: you’ll choose your glaze color in class; we’ll fire the piece afterward & you’ll pick it up when it’s food-safe and ready for service.
Why it’s fun:
Think of it as “hands-on craft night meets dinner-party prep.” You’ll walk in with a slab of clay and walk out knowing you made something you’ll actually use (and brag about). We provide all the tools, clay, glazes, and firing — just bring your sense of humor (and maybe socks you don’t mind getting a little dusty). What’s included:
3 hours of coached instruction in a friendly, laid-back studio setting
All materials: clay, tools, stamps/textures, glazing materials
Firing and finish: your platter will be bisque- and glaze-fired so it’s fully functional & food-safe
