What you’ll make: Typically 3-6 pieces, small-to-medium pieces. Think: coffee mugs and bowls.In this session you will learn:
All the basics of making objects on the potter’s wheel. Handling and preparing clay; centering clay on the wheel; proper form for opening and pulling up the walls of your object; shaping and designing for form and function; finishing, trimming; and the art of glazing!
Why it’s fun:
There’s something that happens the moment you first get your clay centered on the wheel for the first time. Once you feel it, and once you REALLY get the hang of it, we promise you will be changed! It’s so satisfying, and meditative and enjoyable. And beyond the tactile enjoyment, you will get to do this with folks from the community who are also learning something new alongside you, and you’ll have the distinct joy of getting to use something you MADE with your own hands. There’s nothing like drinking your morning coffee out of your own mug!
What’s Included:
The class runs for 6 weeks, with each session lasting 3 hours.
The course includes clay, use of basic tools, and an additional 6 hours of open studio time for you to practice your new skills with the guidance of our amazing Clay Coaches during our designated hours.

Introduction to Hand-Building
Additional Session Just Added! Saturdays, beginning March 28th.
10:00am - 1:00pm
Duration: 3 hours
Instructor: Brooke Kim
Skill level: All levels welcome — no prior clay experience required.
What you’ll make: Typically 3-6 small-to-medium pieces. Things like: cups, bowls, vases, planters, spoon rests, catch all trays.
What to bring: Please bring a small jar or container with a lid (around 4-8oz ish).
Tip: Having short nails will make class a lot easier!In this session, you will learn:
All the basics of building pottery with your hands and minimal tools. Handling and reusing clay, creating slip and stamps, pinch pots, coil building, slab building, and glazing! You will learn the foundations to build a wide variety of functional and decorative pottery.
Why it’s fun:
There’s something special about creating forms with your own two hands. The slow methodical processes of hand building are meditative and accessible to just about anyone. You can get started with almost no tools and make many different shapes and forms. Beyond the tactile enjoyment, you will get to do this with folks from the community who are also learning something new alongside you. The clay community is known for being a kind and helpful bunch who are willing to share countless tips and tricks in the studio! At the end of the class, taking home your finished pieces to use and display in your home is super exciting and rewarding. We’re happy to have you join us!

Valentine's Couples Night
Two separate sections available:

What you’ll make: Each person will make 1-2 vessels.
Ever wanted to try the pottery wheel? Looking for a Valentines Day plan that’s actually memorable? This class is your excuse.We’ll walk you (and your favorite human) through the basics of throwing, then turn you loose on the wheel to make a bowl, vase, candle holder, or whatever form decides to emerge.
After class, we’ll trim your piece, you’ll choose a glaze color, and we’ll handle the firing. When it’s ready, you’ll swing back by to pick up a finished, one-of-a-kind piece—made by you.
Three couples total will fill the space; coordinate with your friends and make it a triple-date night! Just ONE enrollment is good for BOTH people in the couple. $99=two people for two hours.
